PMA is affiliated with many regional and specialty associations, and works with and through these groups to strengthen the publishing industry. Many publishers find that networking within these groups contributes to their success. Publishers are encouraged to join their regional associations.

NOTE TO ORGANIZATIONS: If the information about your association listed here is incomplete or innaccurate, send your corrections to lisa@pma-online.org.
PMA recognizes that an association can grow with the assistance of a paid person to answer the day-to-day calls and perform many of the mundane clerical functions, such as renewal billings, membership contacts, etc.
We would like to offer each affiliate the option to help themselves grow in size and services offered. Therefore, we are willing to match the association in funds to pay such a person.
Requirements of the matching funds program:
The person can be either part-time and/or fulltime (this to be negotiated by the individual affiliate association.)
PMA would like to see a detailed report of how this person will be able to improve what is currently being done by the affiliate group and how this person can work toward financial independence within a three-year time frame.
PMA would like to see a job description for this person and an outline of all functions to be handled by this person, along with how these functions have been handled in the past.
PMA would like to see a spread sheet with revenue and expenses clearly defined for a 12-month period, and a detailed outline of activities planned for the year (such as meetings, catalogs, shows, seminars, membership dues, newsletter, etc.).
The object of this program is to get a paid staff person for each group and that by the end of a three-year period the results of the efforts of this person will allow the group to self-sustain the hiring of this person and no longer need the matching grant from PMA. We will match up to $5,000 (if approved by the board) for each affiliate applying. The $5,000 figure is the maximum figure. Each group will be looked at individually and responded to accordingly.

About the PMA Scholarship Program
The PMA Scholarship Program was implemented in 1997 to afford opportunity for individuals from the Affiliates to participate in PMA’s primary learning session, the Publishing University, and to share what they have learned with other members of their group.
The Affiliate Scholarship is awarded to one representative from each PMA affiliate allowing free access to PMA’s Publishing University, which normally occurs the three days prior to BookExpo America in the host city of BEA. PMA will also provide a $500 stipend to cover partially the cost of travel and/or accommodations for this event. We suggest the affiliate group assist the attendee as well by picking up any other costs involved so that this can become a true scholarship to a publisher.
Applications should be submitted to the Regional Affiliate Board and liaison forwards them to PMA office, with that group’s recommendation.
Information on the scholarship will be emailed to all members of PMA, in which PMA has affiliate groups. We encourage affiliate groups to also promote this within the pages of their newsletter or electronic communication.
The Affiliate Board will submit all applications with a recommendation. The PMA Board makes final choice of scholarship recipient.
It is understood that the recipient of this scholarship will take much of the information learned at the seminars and share that information with out members of the affiliate group, either by writing a column for the group’s newsletter or by being a speaker at a group meeting.
Deadline for all applications is December 31 of each year and the choice of recipient will be made at the February board meeting of PMA. All applications should first be submitted to the appropriate Affiliate Board. The applications will then be sent to the PMA office with recommendations.
