Publications Production Editor

The Independent Institute, www.independent.org , an academic publisher of books, journals, and other publications in public policy seeks a Publications Production Editor for in-house production as well as working with major outside publishers.

Work with senior management on development, editing, and production of Institute’s print and online publications. Design, format, and prepare publications for production. Manage outside copyeditors, designers, typesetters, proofreaders, and other freelance staff. Manage in-house production and web support staff. Coordinate with printers and publishers to ensure publications and marketing communication materials are produced efficiently and on schedule. Oversee IT activities, including web services, network infrastructure, and FileMaker Pro administration.

Requires: experience in book production, editing, typesetting, excellent language and Mac desktop publishing skills. Success working with authors, copyeditors, indexers, printers, etc. Expertise in project management on multiple deadlines. Knowledge of IT functions, networks, web services and Filemaker preferred.
